Introduction to Habitat

A habitat is simply the home where a living thing naturally stays.

A habitat is the natural environment where organisms, such as plants, microorganisms, and animals, are typically found.

It is the place where a plant or animal feels at home and gets everything it needs to survive.

For example, the home of a tadpole is at the bottom of small rivers or ponds that do not have salt.

There are three main types of habitats:

Aquatic habitats, which are homes found inside or around water.

Terrestrial habitats, which are homes found on dry land.

Arboreal habitats, which are homes found inside or on top of trees.

Aquatic Habitats

An aquatic habitat is any place filled with water where living things stay.

An aquatic habitat is a body of water where certain organisms naturally live.

This means it is any water environment that allows plants and animals to grow and stay alive.

Organisms that live in water are called aquatic organisms.

Some examples of aquatic organisms are fish, crabs, toads, and different types of water plants.

Types of Aquatic Habitats

There are three types of aquatic habitats:

Marine or saltwater habitats, such as the big oceans and seas like the Atlantic Ocean.

Estuarine or brackish water habitats, which are places where salt water and fresh water mix, like lagoons, bays, and deltas.

Freshwater habitats, which include water that is not salty at all, like lakes, small streams, and rivers.
