Mensuration

Mensuration is all about how we find the size, space, or weight of different shapes using simple math formulas.

Mensuration deals with the development of formulas to measure areas and volumes of different geometrical figures; such as cubes, cuboids, cylinders, cones and spheres.

This means we use special rules to calculate how big a surface is or how much water a container can hold.

Examples of Shapes

On the first row, we have a rectangle, triangle and square respectively. These are flat shapes like the top of your school desk or a piece of paper.

On the second row, we have a parallelogram, trapezium and cone respectively. A cone is like the party hat you wear or a sharp pencil tip.

The third row is a cylinder. A cylinder looks like a tin of peak milk or a pipe for carrying water.
